  • WHAT IS IJMB :
  • IJMB means Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) is an Advanced Level (A'level) nine months federal government programme run and moderated by Ahmadu Bello University, ABU Zaria.
  • IJMB is an A'level 9 month programme certified by NUC (Nigeria University Commission) CHECK PAGE 4 OF JAMB BROCHURE, ITEM 2.2(2) TO CONFIRM IJMB AS A REQUIREMENT FOR UNIVERSITY EDUCATION THROUGH DIRECT ENTRY.
  • IJMB was setup to serve as an alternative mode of gaining admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria into 200 level via Direct Entry (D.E) and majority of Nigerian universities recognize the IJMB result as a criteria for gaining university admission.
  • IJMB is a programme many of you must have heard of through friends, colleagues, family members etc. Hundreds of thousands of students have gone through the programme since its inception, and have completed their degree programmes in their chosen universities.


  • WHEN DID IJMB STARTED : IJMB - Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) was established in 1976 by the Interim Common Services Agency (ICSA). ICSA itself was established by the government of the old Northern Region of Nigeria to provide educational and social services to the people of the region.


  • WHAT IS IJMB : IJMB - Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination (IJMB) was first held in 1977 for all students who had undergone the IJMBE post secondary education program in the existing schools of Basic/ Preliminary studies which had replaced the HSCE.Presently IJMB now serve as an Advanced Level Examination which guarantee candidate admission into 200level.


  • WHERE DID IJMB ORIGINATE : IJMB Board is administered by the Institute of Education of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. Other members of the board include representatives of various education institutions such as Joint Admission Matriculation Board; Federal University of Technology, Minna.
